Entering first 3 letters of any world ("PLU" for "Pluto", "MAR" for "Mars", etc.) as the password will make the player start at that level, with Mothra and Godzilla both being at Level 1.Entering "sea m0nster" as the password will take player to Planet X and will cause all monsters to spawn from the center of the playing board.Entering "sound test" as the password plays some music from the Japanese version.Entering "START T0 END" as the password plays the ending sequence.Entering "Monster 0" at the password screen starts the game on Earth with only King Ghidorah as an enemy. At the password screen, entering "DESTR0Y ALL MONSTERS" activates a special mode where Godzilla and Mothra fight all the monsters at once on Earth. However, there are also several built in codes that can be used to jump to different levels or cause other effects. The game has a password system in the place of any sort of save feature, and pressing Select on the board will give you the password of your current game, starting you where you left off if you need to turn the game off. They also get stronger as you progress through worlds by leveling up themselves, so it is important to do so. They may also decide to retreat on their turn if they are on very low health, vanishing from the board.ĭefeating all enemy kaiju isn't strictly required to complete the board, but it is often inevitable due to their positioning and movements, and rewards the player with a lot of points and often enough experience to level up. If a kaiju is beaten, it is removed from the board. Both monsters will restore some health in this case. There is an invisible timer to these battles however, and after 40 seconds the fight will end in a draw. Like you, they have a lifebar, and the goal is to reduce theirs to zero to progress. These boss fights work identically to levels in terms of controls, but it takes place in a black space with nothing between you and the boss. If they move to you, they will automatically start battle. Even if you choose no, you can't move more than one space while they are around. If you make a move that will place you next to an enemy, you are given the option to battle them. All enemy kaiju move 2 spaces and take turns in a specific order based on who has the lowest level- for instance, Gezora will move first, then Moguera. Once the player's turn has ended, one of the enemy kaiju will act, advancing over the board to intercept the player. Exactly how you can fight through the level depends on which monster you are using, and their capabilities are listed on their own pages. Normal attacks(A or B button) cost nothing, but both monsters have a special move that uses up the energy meter(Start button). Enemies also drop health powerups to keep them going, and points are scored for attacking and defeating enemies, though the score does not earn you anything in gameplay terms. Destroying them gains experience that lets them level up, increasing their health or energy bars, up to a max of level 16. These stages themselves are sidescrolling action levels that move from left to right, with various enemies attacking your kaiju. If one of your monsters died, it will be restored on the next world, but if your final monster on the board dies, even if the other had already advanced, it means game over. Once the headquarters level is completed, the monster that completed it will be allowed to move on to the next stage. At the end of the board there will be a unique ' Headquarters' level, often protected by the last and strongest of the board's enemy kaiju. Monsters cannot move through 'gaps' on the board or other monsters. These are halved in the Japanese version, but you could move an extra space if you land on a Subspace tile. Godzilla can move two spaces, and Mothra can move 4. Once the monster has finished moving, all the stages passed over have to be played. Both monsters act as pieces on this board to be moved though the stages, represented as tiles. The game starts on a board- the 'Ring Field' described by the story. G:MoM has two playable characters- Godzilla and Mothra. For the sake of the future of the Earth, Godzilla's fierce battle now begins." Godzilla must battle its way from one Ring Field to another, and finally defeat King Ghidorah at Planet X to defend Earth. Godzilla advances through battle stages called Ring Fields provided in interplanetary space to battle that legion of space monsters controlled by Planet X. The Earth sends Godzilla and Mothra, to defend itself. The invaders from Planet X attack the Earth as part of their plan to conquer the entire universe using a legion of space monsters. when the orbits of Pluto and Neptune exchange their positions, the Earth receives a declaration of war from an unknown planet.
